COURSE STRUCTURE

There are two required dives – Deep and Underwater Navigation – and you choose the other three, for a total of five dives to complete the Advanced Open Water Course.
During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.

Prior to certification as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, you must successfully complete at least five Adventure Dives. Two of these are mandatory; the Deep Adventure Dive and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive. The other three dives that you complete can be chosen from a wide range of Adventure Dives and the decision as to which dives you complete will be based on what is available at your dive location and what your PADI Instructor is able to offer.

You can be an Adventure Diver till you complete the two required dives, and each of your adventure dive credits towards the required dives of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver course.
