Scuba Diving, the adventure in the fascinating world under water that a generation of Indians grew up watching on television, is now at your doorstep, with the launch on Friday of the country’s first Inland Training Center in Bangalore.
Set up by Planet Scuba India, a story of combining passion with business opportunity, the Scuba Diving School will for the first time make scuba diving accessible and easy for a majority of Indians who live away from the country’s long and lovely sea coast.
“We believe anyone can dive, provided there is proper training and good equipment. With our Dive Center we are fulfilling both these needs for the first time in India,” said Madhava Reddy, Founder Director of Planet Scuba India.
“Every year, more than a million people around the world become scuba divers through a certification process. There are very few Indians among them. We hope to contribute significantly in changing that,” he said. He said scuba diving was one activity that directly contributes to the protection of environment by spreading awareness about the beauty and fragility of Marine Life.
Planet Scuba India’s dive center is being launched in technical partnership with Planet Scuba Malaysia and Mr Venkatesh Charloo, a pioneering diving instructor in the country.
“We have been in the business for many years now and we firmly believe that India is the next big growth area for scuba diving. There is a lot of potential here and a lot of people are passionate about the sport,” said Dato’ E.K. Lim, a founder of Planet Scuba Malaysia.
By virtue of association with the Malaysian company, Planet Scuba India has been granted a very high level of rating of Five Star Dive Center by PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors), the world’s largest recreational dive training, certification and membership organization. Planet Scuba India will offer the PADI Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications initially in Bangalore. These courses will be held twice a month starting September and there will be special courses held during the holiday period. These certifications will allow a person to dive anywhere in the world.
This makes PADI-Certified Planet Scuba India a one stop destination for all your scuba diving needs. Here you can learn to dive, pick up diving equipment and plan your diving holidays – sitting right here in Bangalore city. The holidays are to destinations around the world, including established scuba diving spots in the country like Andamans and Lakshadweep for a hands-on experience.
During the launch, Planet Scuba India felicitated the pioneers of Indian Scuba Diving – Prahalad Kakkar in Lakshadweep, Venkatesh Charloo in Goa and Vandit ‘Vinnie’ Kalia in Andamans.
